Anya/Jynx by Casie Starr
Casie has officially sent me the final art for both Jynx and Sparrow, and I am so excited!
Jynx has always been a really interesting character to me. Saga was technically the first of the three main POV characters I created, but for some reason, Jynx has always felt a little like the “main character” in my head, even though narratively, they're all equal.
I have never been entirely sure why.
Maybe it is because I am especially attached to her. She is the only one of the three I have actually played myself at our D&D table, and there is probably more of my wife woven into Jynx than either of the other two. So... maybe that explains it a little?
Either way, she has always had such a strong image in my head, while somehow also being incredibly difficult to actually visualize. Between the shifting, prismatic hair, the tattoos, and all the tiny details that make her Jynx, I knew she was going to be a challenge to capture.
But I knew Casie would nail her! She actually drew Jynx years ago, back when she was still a character running around our D&D table. And now, all these years later, Casie has drawn her again, only this time she gets to live permanently within the world of this novel.
Her look has evolved quite a bit since those early days, but I knew Casie would understand her in a way very few people could and capture all those little intricacies that have lived in my head for so long.
And she did. ❤️
I’ll be sharing Sparrow in the coming days. :D
